Sarah’s passion for yoga took root while she was a college student in 2005, but she began her journey to take her practice to the next level in 2013 and decided to share her knowledge with others by completing her teacher training at Down Under School of Yoga in Brookline MA with Peter Crowley, Angelina Hawley-Dalton, Barbara Benagh, and Natasha Rizopolous in 2016. Sarah has witnessed the transformation possible in the physical, mental, and emotional bodies through a yoga practice and is passionate about helping other’s connect with the teachings of yoga both on and off the mat.

Sarah is also a Registered Dietitian and works full time at a private practice in Cambridge where she specializes in helping those struggling with eating disorders, chronic dieting, and negative body image. She incorporates both the psychological and physical tenets of yoga into her work there by helping clients reconnect with their bodies and their intuitive wisdom of themselves. Her knowledge of yoga informs her work both on the mat and in her nutrition counseling.

She practiced Ashtanga Yoga in Europe for many years before she moved to the US 11 years ago. It is here where she discovered Pilates and Barre classes and became instantly hooked. Both Barre and Pilates have proven to be very beneficial in helping her to recover from a skiing injury. It gave her great strength, much joy, and a lot of confidence. As an avid skier and golfer she uses Barre and Pilates exercises as her preventative strengthening and stretching program. Johanna teaches Barre & Pilates in English and French, but she also speaks German and the Scandinavian Languages. Travel and food is another passion of hers!

“All that is important is this one moment in movement. Make the moment important, vital and worth living. Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused” – Martha Graham

My love of Barre started after the birth my first daughter Stella and my practice really evolved after my second daughter was born, Luna. What drew me to Yoga and Barre was not only the transformation of my body and my overall well being but that it challenged me mentally and physically and grounded me as a person. That is one of the major aspects of Yoga and Barre that I enjoy teaching ,not only for the physical transformation but also the mental transformation. It truly is a practice of mind, body and soul. I look forward to starting my journey with BodyTrio and look forward to meeting you all!
